HBG seeks two writers for Outlive Outdead Companion

Earlier in the year, we used Kickstarter to publish Outlive Outdead, a cinematic zombie rpg. Now we’re planning a new Kickstarter for the Outlive Outdead Companion: A collection of adventures each set in a different time period. To that end, we are seeking two new writers for the project. Here are the details.

PAY: If the Kickstarter is successful, you will receive a percentage of net profits based on the percentage of the final work that’s your contribution. If your adventure takes up 20% of the book, you’ll receive 20% of the net profits. We’d also appreciate help with promoting the Kickstarter, as the more you spread the word, the more profit you stand to make. Please note this will not be a huge money-maker for anyone.

Regardless of the Kickstarter’s success, we will eventually release the book for sale and you’ll receive the same percentage of net profits from the first year’s sales. You’ll also receive a PDF copy for free. (FYI I plan on keeping production costs as low as possible without making the product look cheap and amateurish. But I will be doing all the layout and most, if not all, of the artwork, so those won’t be costs.)

EXPERIENCE: I began writing for rpgs because Allen Varney picked me out of a fan site despite having no experience. Therefore, I am specifically looking for writers/designers with no experience. Of course I’ll consider experienced writers, but I’d prefer to give a new, unpublished writer a chance like I was given.

TIME: Our Kickstarter will hopefully begin October 1st and end October 31st. We want completed rough drafts in early October and a finished work by Oct. 31. If you cannot meet this short deadline then please do not apply.

OTHER: You should have some knowledge of zombies and zombie movies. Also, you should have solid grammar, spelling, and writing skills. Familiarity with Outlive Outdead’s rules is a plus but not required.

HOW TO APPLY
Send me an email (wjmacguffin@gmail.com) with the following:
1) Your name
2) Your writing experience, if any
3) A one-page (or there about) summary of your proposed zombie adventure. We’re looking more for plot than anything else, but please pay attention to grammar and spelling. It doesn’t need to be 100% perfect, but emails with tons of mistakes will be turned down. Also remember that this project is about zombies in different time periods. That means your adventure should be set some time other than now.

We already have science fiction, Arthurian, stone age, and Jacobean Scotland settings, so please don’t use those.

The last day to apply will be Friday, Sept. 7, 2012. I will make decisions over the weekend and will reply to every email. If you have any questions, feel free to send them before or after you apply. Thanks, and I look forward to hearing from you!
